Program helping job seekers succeed at the North America Railway Hall of Fame Ontario government helps people looking for work get experience
ST. THOMAS – The provincial government will invest $141,636 to help the North America Railway Hall of Fame continue a project that will allow 19 more job seekers develop new work skills and experience that will help them succeed.

The Hall of Fame is hiring jobseekers to continue restoration and repairs of the Canadian Southern Railway (CASO) Station, increase activities in the historic building and better preserve artifacts. Other initiatives those hired through the funding will work on include developing the profile of the Hall of Fame and the Canada Southern Station through partnerships with other agencies and increasing a tourism presence.

This project is funded through Employment Ontario, the province’s more than $1 billion employment and training network. The Job Creation Partnership program is funded through the Canada-Ontario Labour Market Development Agreement.

“By investing in our people and our community, the government is contributing to build a brighter future for St. Thomas and area,” Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Steve Peters.

“Receiving the support from the Ontario Job Creation Partnership Program has been essential in moving the restoration of the Canada Southern Railway Station forward and returning it to its former glory as the hub of downtown St. Thomas,” Hall of Fame Executive Director Chris Harvey said. “The North America Railway Hall of Fame is truly grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Province of Ontario on this important initiative.”
